Makita Circular Saw

The Makita corporation was founded way back in 1915 in a small repair shop in Nagoya, Japan. Nearly 100 years later, the brand Makita still stands for ingenuity, innovation, and great power tools such as the Makita circular saw. The little repair shop that started it all grew into one of the leading manufactures of power tools, one of the biggest in the world. Not only do they do the Makita circular saw, but they also produce other top of the line power tool products as well. For the purpose of this website, you’ll have a chance to see some of the most popular Makita circular saws, as well as a product description and short review.

Makita 5007MG Magnesium 7-1/4-Inch Circular Saw

The Makita 7-1/4-Inch Magnesium Circular Saw features highly durable magnesium components and a powerful 15 AMP Makita-built industrial motor. The 5007MG seamlessly balances weight, power, durability, and ease of use, making it the most refined Makita circular saw on the market.

“This is the best circular saw I have ever used. I used to own the previous version, 5007FK. I’m a homeowner, not a pro, and my old saw ‘disappeared’ when some contractors were at the house. I went for this upgraded model as a replacement and haven’t been disappointed. I’ve used it on multiple projects (deck, bookcases, some light framing) and it is powerful and cuts true. It is a big improvement over the old version in several ways. The ergonomics are better, the adjustment levers are now rubber coated (used to be smaller hard plastic knobs), and the cast magnesium base is more solid than the old stamped aluminum base. Also, the blade guard is redesigned and no longer binds up on 2x material. Great saw. Highly recommended. Comparison shop against the Milwaukee and the Porter-Cable (forget the DeWalts) and you’ll see this Makita comes in first. My only complaint is that the included blade is junk – mine lost two carbide teeth on my first project. Ditch the blade for a good Irwin or DeWalt blade.”

Bare-Tool Makita BSS611Z 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 6-1/2-Inch Circular Saw (Tool Only, No Battery)

The Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 6-1/2-Inch Circular Saw delivers cordless cutting power to the jobsite. The BSS611Z has a Makita-built high-torque motor and a compact design for a range of cutting applications, and will cut 2X material at 45 degrees. Great budget Makita circular saw.

“Got this in the mail two days ago. I intended on using until I got my DeWalt runnig again (Ipe and remodeling, is hard on chordless saws). Well I put it through the paces today w/ the Makita blade that came on it none the less. And it is now the main tool and the DeWalt is the back up. I can’t wait till I get the Freud Diablo blade on it to see what it can really do! Easy to use rip fence, good eurognomics, smooth running and powerful. A great chordless saw. Won’t replace the corded Bosch but it rocks!”

Makita 5402NA 16-5/16-Inch Circular Saw

This Makita circular saw features a shaft lock for quick blade changes, a large depth control lever for secure adjustments, and an oversized trigger handle to ensure operating ease, with or without gloves. Its big support handle also contributes to operator ease and comfort. Other features include a noise level (87 dB) that is easy on the ears, a high power Makita motor, and a blade stabilizer for consistent blade rotation and top of the line cutting performance. This saw bevel cuts 0-45 degrees large, sports an easy to adjust lever for operating ease, and a carbide tipped blade.

“The 5402na is defintly a powerhouse. It slices through 6x stock
with ease. The electric brake stops the blade on a dime and the blade stablizer is wonderful. I strongly reccomend this saw for anyone who works with 6x or 8x stock on a regular basis. It really saves time and effort.”
